rethinking SENT

Growing up maybe you heard stories about God sending people away to other lands, speaking different languages, eating different foods, to a people that have never heard of the name of Jesus. Maybe you grew up believing that God chooses the extra brave, the extraverted, and the extra faithful to be sent, over there, far away to show people what it means to follow Jesus.

What if it was more like the things we read in Scripture- God choosing the ordinary people to impact the very people that are right in front of them? What if it was possible that along with God calling people to travel abroad to impact people far away, He had already sent YOU to the very places where you live, work, and play- in the here and now?

Forge Sacramento presents a 2 day experience to encourage and equip you as a missionary in the places where you already live your life- “rethinking SENT"

Join us as we are led by Scott and Andrea Nelson to unwrap what it means to rethink the sending of God’s people into the world. Come one and all, no matter your setting or vocation, to find out how to live a life SENT on God's mission in your world!

SCOTT NELSON loves the thrill of helping people discover how God is calling them to participate in His mission to the world. He studies the missional church movement "for a living,” which allows him to help generate resources for Forge America serving as Director of Theology and Seminary Partnerships. He creates partnerships between Forge America and Christian academic institutions while feeding his three addictions: sour skittles, disc golf, & board games. He is the author of the five Forge Guides for Missional Conversation, published by InterVarsity Press, and is a Ph.D. Candidate in Congregational Mission and Leadership at Luther Seminary. Scott, his wife Andrea, and their kids live as missionaries in their condominium complex and have recently planted a missional community/house church that is attempting to discover how to be a missional church in the suburbs of Chicago. He's thrilled to leave the bitter cold of a Chicago winter and come hang out in Sacramento with you for two days.
